Webmistress

Your illustrious webmistress, Kimberly, at your service! I've been writing (journals, articles, essays, poetry, fiction, this site's blog, etc.) pretty much my whole life, and I also have a passion for visual art ... but I've only been learning html and computer graphics for the past year or so. I'm an old woman of 32, happily married to a wonderful man (and professional Cobweb and Munchkinwriter) who betas all my fics and tells me I'm a fabulous artist. We also have two adorable cats, named Cobweb and Mustardseed (usually called Munchkin).

Some random bits about me, in case you're curious:

Favorite Books: Little, Big (John Crowley), Love Medicine (Louise Erdrich), anything by Jane Austen, Haroun and the Sea of Story (Salman Rushdie), Fifth Business (Robertson Davies), Angle of Repose (Wallace Stegner), Strange Pilgrims (Gabriel Garcia Marquez), The Color Purple (Alice Walker), The Woman Warrior (Maxine Hong Kingston), As She Climbed Across the Table (Jonathan Lethem), Night of the Avenging Blowfish (John Welter), History of the Siege of Lisbon (Jose Saramago), Evening (Susan Minot), The English Patient (Michael Ondaatje)

Favorite Plays: Translations (Brian Friel), Metamorphoses (Mary Zimmerman), M. Butterfly (David Hwang), Cloud Nine (Caryl Churchill), anything by Tom Stoppard, Cyrano de Bergerac (Edmond Rostand), Twelfth Night and King Lear (Shakespeare)

Favorite Movies: Spirited Away, American Beauty, Magnolia, Memento, A Room With A View, Waking the Dead, Casablanca, Sabrina, Charade, Moulin Rouge, Strictly Ballroom, Local Hero, Run Lola Run, The Princess and the Warrior, The Big Chill, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Bull Durham, Smoke Signals, Empire Records, My Friend Totoro, Truly Madly Deeply, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Chasing Amy, Walking and Talking, Oscar and Lucinda, Lone Star, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Swingers, Wings of Desire, The Full Monty, and tons more (I've been a movie junkie practically since birth)

Favorite TV Shows: "Buffy" (duh!), "Angel," "Queer as Folk," "Monk" (an odd little detective series with an endearingly obsessive-compulsive lead character), "The Sopranos"

Favorite Musicians: Barenaked Ladies, Michelle Branch, Pink, Sting, Danny Elfman, Jonathan Richman, Rebecca Riots, Brian Setzer

Favorite Comics and Manga: The Sandman series (Neil Gaiman), Strangers in Paradise (Terry Moore), Maison Ikkoku (Rumiko Takahashi), Ranma 1/2 (Rumiko Takahashi)

Favorite Artists: Monet, Waterhouse, Rodin, Ansel Adams

Favorite Websites: IMDB, Google Image Search

Blogs I Read: my friends at LiveJournal, Thia, Mr Monkeybottoms, frcooper, Medea Sin, Jennifer, and the incomparable Neil Gaiman

Favorite Color: green

Favorite Flowers: jasmine, freesia, dahlias, cornflowers, cherry or plum blossoms, double tulips

Favorite Quote: "We die containing a richness of lovers and tribes, tastes we have swallowed, bodies we have plunged into and swum up as if rivers of wisdom, characters we have climbed into as if trees, fears we have hidden in as if caves. I wish for all this to be marked on my body when I am dead. I believe in such cartography -- to be marked by nature, not just to label ourselves on a map like the names of rich men and women on buildings. We are communal histories, communal books. We are not owned or monogamous in our taste or experience. All I desired was to walk upon such an earth that had no maps." -- Michael Ondaatje, The English Patient

My Heroes: the Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Han, Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, Abraham Lincoln, Nancy Mairs, Salman Rushdie, Oscar Wilde, Congresswoman Barbara Lee

Oh ... and I'm a judge at the Immortal Moonlight Awards, and I also used to work as a reviewer at Royal Four Reviews.
