My Current Top 5 Recommendations

After the DanceAmy, After the Dance
Summary: A stunningly beautiful Spike POV after his ensouled return to Sunnydale, post-"Grave".
Rating: PG-13/R
What She DeservesHerself, What She Deserves
Summary: This is basically Herself's take on a post-"Grave" ensouled Spike, and it's painful. One of the most darkly, disturbingly, complexly intimate stories I've ever read.
Rating:
NC-17 for disturbing sexuality. This story contains elements of slash and sado-masochism, which may bother some readers.
The Unknown CitizenIsabelle, The Unknown Citizen
Summary: Spike is completely down-and-out ... but why? It's romantic angst from Spike's point of view.
Rating: R
Sunlight and ShadowKimberly, Sunlight and Shadow
Summary: Mid-way through Season 6, Buffy realizes that she needs both the darkness and the light.
Rating: R
MasksLara Dean-Brierley, Masks
Summary: This post-"Grave" story weaves a dense tapestry of emotion and imagery from Spike's POV.
Rating:
NC-17 for sexuality

* Note: For those of you new to the world of fan fiction, here's a brief glossary of terms as they are used on this site.

Angst: Usually a fic dealing with a lot of emotional pain.
Drama: I generally use this term primarily to refer to plotty fics ... fics where a lot of stuff actually happens.
Ficlet: A short fic. On this site, I'm defining that as anything under 3,000 words.
Fluff: A fic that is light in tone, not too serious, often sweet and happy. Fluff fics almost always have happy endings that would never happen in the actual Buffyverse.
Humor: A fic that is intended to be funny (as opposed to those which are unintentionally funny).
PWP: This abbreviation stands for Porn Without Plot, and is widely used in the world of fanfic. I usually use it to refer to a fic that may still include some interesting plot, but which exists primarily for the benefit of smutty goodness. These are all rated NC-17. (But not all NC-17 fics are PWP, since some tell fantastic, complicated stories that just happen to include sexual scenes.)
Slash: A fic that includes same-gender sexual interaction. For example, men with men, or women with women. While I don't archive fics here that are primarily slash, there are some fics here with slash elements (usually Spike involved with men as a subplot).
Vignette: I generally use this term to refer to short fics that really don't focus on plot, but rather try to convey the feeling of a particular moment, mood, and/or emotion. This is one of my favorite genres of fic, actually.
